TITAN PPF
AFTERCARE GUIDE.
Your paint protection film is designed to help defend your vehicle against everyday road wear while maintaining a clean, premium appearance. Proper aftercare is essential to help the film settle correctly, maintain clarity, and perform as intended over time.
Immediately After Installation
After installation, your Titan PPF may still be going through its natural settling and curing phase. During this period, it is normal to notice:
- Slight surface haze
- Minor moisture pockets
- A soft or uneven appearance in certain areas
- Light edge moisture in some sections
These are common during the curing process and usually improve as the film settles. Do not press, pick, rub, or disturb the film during this time.
Do Not Wash the Vehicle Right Away
Avoid washing the vehicle for at least 5 to 7 days after installation, or follow the installer's specific recommendation if they advise a longer period.
This helps:
- The adhesive settle properly
- Edges bond correctly
- Trapped moisture evaporates naturally
- The film stabilizes on the surface
Avoid: hand washing, automatic car washes, pressure washing, and steam cleaning during the initial curing period.
Avoid Pressure on Edges
In the early days after installation, film edges are especially important. Do not:
- Lift or touch film edges
- Rub aggressively along wrapped areas
- Direct water pressure at panel edges
- Use compressed air on corners or seams
First Wash After Installation
Once the recommended curing period has passed, wash the vehicle gently.
Best practice:
- Use a pH-neutral automotive shampoo
- Use clean microfiber wash media
- Rinse thoroughly before touching the paint
- Dry with a clean microfiber towel or filtered air
Avoid: harsh chemicals, abrasive brushes, rough sponges, strong solvents, aggressive degreasers, dry/rough cloth for dusting, and polishing PPF.
A gentle wash routine helps preserve both the film and the finish underneath.

Automatic Car Washes
Automatic car washes are not recommended, especially those with abrasive brushes. Brush-style washes can:
- Mark the film surface
- Dull the finish
- Stress the edges
- Reduce the premium appearance over time
If washing outside the home, touchless washing is generally the safer option, but it should still be done carefully and not too soon after installation.
Pressure Washing Guidelines
Pressure washing should be done carefully, even after the film has cured.
- Keep a safe distance from the surface
- Do not hold the nozzle too close
- Avoid aiming directly at film edges
- Avoid concentrating pressure on corners and wrapped sections
High pressure at close range can damage edges or shorten film life.
Stain & Contaminant Removal
Remove bird droppings, bug remains, tree sap, and similar contaminants as soon as possible. Leaving contaminants on the surface too long can affect appearance and make cleaning more difficult.
Safe cleaning approach:
- Rinse first
- Soften the contamination with safe automotive wash solution
- Wipe gently using clean microfiber
- Do not scrape the surface
Drying the Vehicle
Drying matters just as much as washing.
Use:
- Clean microfiber drying towels
- Soft filtered air
- Gentle blotting or controlled drying motions
Avoid: dirty towels, rough fabrics, circular aggressive rubbing.
Clean drying practices help preserve gloss and reduce surface marring.

Wax, Sealants, and Coatings
Do not apply any wax, sealant, or coating until the film is fully cured and your installer has confirmed it is appropriate. Some products may not be suitable for every film finish.
Before applying anything, confirm:
- Whether the product is safe for PPF
- Whether it is safe for gloss, satin, or matte finishes
- Whether the installer recommends waiting longer
Using the wrong product can affect the film’s appearance.
Film Behavior in Heat and Sunlight
Titan PPF is designed for real-world driving conditions, but environmental exposure still matters. As with any premium surface finish:
- Strong sun can increase surface temperature
- Contaminants bake onto hot panels faster
- Neglected cleaning becomes more noticeable over time
Regular maintenance helps keep the film looking cleaner and more uniform.
Minor Marks and Surface Changes
Depending on the film type and usage, some light wash marks or temporary surface impressions may appear during ownership. This does not always mean the film is damaged.
Do not attempt aggressive polishing or correction without confirming that the method is safe for the installed film. If you are unsure, contact your installer first.
Ongoing Maintenance Best Practice
For the best long-term appearance:
- Wash the vehicle regularly
- Remove contaminants quickly
- Use clean wash tools only
- Inspect edges occasionally
- Keep the surface free from heavy buildup
- Follow installer guidance for film-safe maintenance products
Consistent care helps maintain clarity, gloss, and overall presentation.

When to Contact Your Installer
Contact your installer if you notice:
- Lifting edges
- Unusual peeling
- Large moisture pockets after the curing period
- Contamination trapped under the film
- Damage from impact or abrasion
- Anything that looks unusual or concerning
Do not attempt to repair film issues yourself.
